Installing CD Writer Updates under OS/2
Please take the following steps in order to install a CD Writer update:
- Download the installation program into a temporary folder. Do not download it into the installation directory.
- Start the installation program from within the temp directory.
- Verify that the destination directory displayed in the installer window matches the one of your existing CD Writer installation (usually c:\cdwfs).
- Press the "Start installation" button.
This procedure ensures that all files are updated and retail key files are not overwritten by demo key files.
"Demo expired" message
If you get a "demo expired" message after installing an update over an existing licensed installation, please reinstall the update following the steps described above, then:
- Copy your retail key file into the installation directory (usually c:\cdwfs). You received your retail key file either on your installation diskette or via EMail. If you are not sure whether a certain file is a retail key file, enter the command "type cdwfs.key" at an OS/2 command prompt or open the file in some editor. If you see the line 'ExpirationDate=NEVER' it is a retail key file.
- Start the installation program from within your installation directory. You can use the 'Installation' program object in the RSJ CD Writer folder on your desktop for that purpose.
- If you are prompted for a key number you can find this number on the printed manual.
